East Los Angeles

About Mrs. Aguilera...

I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, along with 13 siblings (YES, 13!). After high school, I completed my undergraduate studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills, where I earned my Bachelor of Science - specializing in Cellular and Molecular Biology. With that degree, I had the privilege to work for several Ophthalmologists - Cataract Surgeons, Refractive Surgeons, Retinal Surgeons, Glaucoma Specialists, and many more. I always found myself frequently teaching patients about several diseases and disorders of the eyes, which made it clear for me that teaching was what I was most passionate about. During my time working as an Ophthalmic Technician, I earned two credentials (CTE and Adult ED) and felt the need to grow further and expand my teaching career. Recently, I completed my graduate studies earning my Master's degree in Education along with a single-subject credential in Biological Sciences and a Graduate Certificate in Special Education from the University of Southern California. Now, I am a doctoral student working towards obtaining my Doctor of Education degree with emphasis in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
